Football - Case Study
India’s (and SAARC region’s) first world-class artificial grass field (FieldTurf) was successfully installed and signed off in the first week of January 2006. This unique facility is meeting all the requirements in terms of the FieldTurf Artificial Grass; the dimensions sufficient to hold an International Men’s tournament (Length 102 Mtrs * 72 Mtrs). The entire installation was completed in less than 4 months from the start date.
This facility has been built for the Chowgule College, part of the Chowgule Group in Goa. Currently 1 st division teams like Vasco and Salgaocar practice on this ground and plans are on to host national and international matches at this site.
The Field has a sub-base of 8-10 inches, slopes at 0.5% from the center to the edges, with sub-base drainage system, catch basins and storm water sewers, which allows rainwater to drain out faster. FieldTurf allows players to slide & dive, without worry of any injury & also it is more comfortable on the knees of the players, as they do not get locked when compared to the old-generation, hard and abrasive turfs.
